Youth & Teenage Counselling in Basingstoke for Young People aged 11+

Being a teenager isn't easy, and sometimes everything can feel like a lot to carry. Our specialist counsellors offer young people between the ages of 11-17 a calm, confidential space to talk things through, make sense of how they're feeling, and figure things out at their own pace, with no pressure and no judgement. Whether you're a parent looking for support for your teenager, or a young person looking for someone to talk to yourself, we're here to help, both face-to-face in Basingstoke and online.

Counselling for young people you can trust

Founded in 2018, we are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company, and the funds from our training and services go towards reducing costs for those facing financial barriers to support. We also know that trusting someone with a young person’s wellbeing is a big deal.

Signs a young person might benefit from counselling

It’s normal for teenagers to have ups and downs, but sometimes they’re carrying more than they can manage alone. It may be worth considering counselling if, over time, you’ve noticed a young person:

And if you’re a young person reading this yourself, if things feel heavy, confusing, or just too much right now, talking to someone can really help. All feelings and reasons to seek help are valid and there’s no such thing as a “big enough” reason to reach out.

How youth counselling can help:

Counselling gives a young person a safe, confidential space to explore whatever’s on their mind, at their own pace.

Our sessions can support teenagers and young people experiencing:

Our approach to working with young people

  • Led by the young person, at their pace

There's no pressure on your teenager to talk about anything they're not ready to. Our counsellors follow the young person's lead, so sessions move at a pace that feels right for them. For some that's talking things through; for others it's a mix of conversation and creative or practical ways of making sense of things. It's their time, to use in whatever way helps most.

  • A space that's just for them

Counselling gives your teenager the chance to talk to someone who isn't a parent, teacher, or friend. Someone neutral, there simply to listen and help them work things out, without judgement. For many young people, having that separate, confidential space makes it far easier to be honest about what's really going on.

A confidential space, and what that means:

A young person’s sessions are confidential, and that privacy is part of what makes counselling work, it’s what allows them to feel safe enough to be honest. For parents, this means you won’t receive a session-by-session update, and that’s intentional and healthy. We’ll discuss during the initial appointment about how you’re kept appropriately informed.

The one exception is safeguarding: if a counsellor is concerned about a young person’s safety, they may need to share information to keep them safe, and this is explained clearly from the outset.

No GP referral needed:

You can get in touch directly, there’s no need for a GP letter or to join a CAMHS waiting list. Just complete the form and we’ll take it from there.

Affordable youth counselling

As a not-for-profit organisation, we keep our fees as low as possible. Sessions are charged at £50 per session.

We never want cost to be a barrier to a young person getting support, so we also offer a sliding scale based on financial circumstances. The minimum charge is £25 per session. Please enquire to find out more about reduced-fee options.
